Unfortunately, we do not have a deferral program for this event.

Athletes can transfer their race entry to someone else in accordance with the below stated Person to Person Transfer date:

Person-to-Person transfers are accepted up until 11:59pm (AEST) on 31st April 2026. No Person-to-Person transfers accepted after this date. After this date, such requests can only be made at the Help Desk at Athlete Check-in.

A transfer fee of $27AUD including all fees and taxes will be charged to the withdrawing athlete.

Athletes can formally transfer their entry to someone else within the same distance event already entered.

Additional purchases paid for at the time of entry (if any) which are paid by the Event Operator to a third-party are not refundable and will not be transferred with your entry. These non-refundable additional purchases include:

It is not possible to transfer your entry to someone else who is wanting to do a different distance event (i.e. Half Marathon to 10km).

To transfer an entry to someone else, the initial registrant must log in to their My Registration select ‘Transfer Registration’ and follow the necessary steps. Please note: the receiving athlete will be sent a link to complete the registration and will need to pay for the entry (at the current entry price advertised at https://runawaysydneyhalf.com.au/entry-info/) in order for the transfer to process, then the original athlete will be refunded their entry fee less the $27AUD including all fees and taxes transfer fee.

Athletes who deferred into this event, are required to contactrunawaysydney@theironmangroup.comto request a Person-to-Person transfer.
**As stated in the Athlete Waiver, under no circumstance are you permitted to give your bib to another person. The safety of our athletes is paramount, therefore we need to ensure we have correct details of all our athletes on course.
Due to reaching strict capacity limits, Athletes are now unable to make any further changes to start groups.
If you wish to start in a slower start group, you may do so on race day by starting in a group slower than the group on your bib.
Unfortunately, you are not able to move to faster start groups on race day, any athlete who attempts to do so will be disqualified.
The 10km will not be returning for HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon 2026 unfortunately.
If you still wish to run a 10km race, we encourage you to head to our other Runaway events below which all feature 10km races!

ATHLETE MEDICAL WITHDRAWALS
Requests for refunds must be notified to the organiser via this form here.
If you cannot participate in the event for medical reasons, partial entry fee refunds are available in accordance with the below stated Athlete Medical Withdrawal policy only. After the stipulated dates, entry fees are non-refundable for medical withdrawals initiated by the athlete. Requests for eligible partial refunds on the basis of medical reasons must be notified to the organiser in writing via email at runawaysydney@theironmangroup.com with supported medical certificate outlining the condition before 11:59pm (AEST) Sunday 23 March 2025. Partial refunds will only be issued for the entry fee where participation in the event is not appropriate due to medical reasons.
Where eligible, please allow up to 30 business days for your refund to be processed. The refund is automatically issued to the credit card originally used to pay for the registration. If this card has since been cancelled or has expired, it is the athlete’s responsibility to notify our customer service team when requesting the eligible refund.

Athletes who have deferred into this event from a previous year, transferred into this event, entered through the use of an Event Credit or complimentary (100% discounted) entry are not eligible for athlete withdrawal refunds.
Please note: This event takes place in Sydney, NSW, Australia. It is each athlete’s sole responsibility to ensure that they can attend (including Athlete Check-In during specified times) and compete in the event on the day. Other than as provided for in the Athlete Withdrawal program set out above, no further remedies will be provided for change of mind, change of personal circumstances (including work conflicts), or injury.
If you decide to withdraw at the event after collecting your race bib at Check-In, please advise Event Information onsite. If you need to withdraw on race day, your details must be recorded by the Drop Out Clerk located at Event Information.
ROAD RUNNING PREGNANCY POLICY

For Athletes that become pregnant after registering for HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon: Event Organiser will provide a refund of the entry fee with proof of pregnancy or birth certificate of new child(ren).

For Athletes that are adopting or birthing via surrogacy: Event Organiser will provide a refund of the entry fee with proof of surrogacy birth or adoption within three months prior, or two months post-event date.
Verification
Athletes are required to provide written confirmation, by a qualified person or through official documentation, of the relevant circumstance e.g. medical note signed by a doctor, physician or registered midwife.
Event Organiser reserves the right to request additional verification of the relevant circumstances and may deny a refund request if the documentation provided is deemed insufficient.

If you are unable to attend Athlete Check-In, someone will need to collect your race bib on your behalf during check in opening hours.
You will need to provide them with a copy of your confirmation email.
HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon offers an optional additional purchase of race bib postage for a limited time to domestic addresses only.
Bib Postage is subject to availability.
Changes to addresses for bib postage can be made up until January 18 2026. If you are no longer able to get your bib from your allocated postal address, you will be able to collect a bib at expo.
Please note: After 18th January 2026 there is no ability to change/update your postal address, no refunds will be provided for an incorrect postal address.
Do not worry! If you haven’t received your race bib, our team will need to re-allocate you a new race bib at athlete check-in.
If you are unable to attend athlete check-in, someone will need to collect your race bib on your behalf. You will need to provide them with a copy of your registration confirmation.
Posted athlete race bibs will begin to arrive at your nominated address starting around 3 weeks out from the event.
All posted bibs are sent in April regardless of when you complete your registration. If you have paid for postage but not received your race bib by the end of April, please come to Expo to collect a bib from check-in.
ie: If you register in August 2025, your race bib will still be sent in April 2026.
Athlete Check-In is only for athletes who need to collect their race bib. Of course, if you have your bib - you are welcome to come visit and check out the event Expo!
General Event Info
Yes, due to course management and road closure restrictions there are specific cut-off points on-course.
The below are the cut-off times for the 2025 event.
Half Marathon – athletes have until 12:25pm to cross the finish line for Half Marathon. This gives the last expected runner to cross the start line 3 hours to complete the 21.1km distance. See specific course cut-off point here.

Start Group times for 2026 for race day will be updated closer to the event, this will be able to be found on the Event Schedule.
If you forgot to add these items during your registration, you can log back into your registration and add them via your participant dashboard
Half Marathon - Unfortunately, not as runners will need to maintain an average pace of approximately 8:31min/km to they finish before the course cut-off time.
Please get to the start time around 45 minutes before your start group is expected to start.
