Biggest Ever HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon Takes to the Streets this Weekend

More than 25,000 registered participants are putting the final touches to their race day preparations as the sold-out HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon returns this Sunday, 4 May.

This iconic event has proved more popular than ever this year, with total event registrations at their highest in its history. This weekend’s Runaway Sydney Half Marathon will be the 32nd edition of the event, with its first being held back in 1992.

The 2025 Runaway Sydney Half Marathon will see runners and walkers tackle either 21.1km or 10km through the Sydney CBD.

Runaway Sydney Half Marathon Regional Director Leanna Ali says the team is excited to see everyone out on course this Sunday achieving their goals and celebrating their successes with friends and family.

“It’s amazing to see the HOKA Runaway Sydney Half Marathon hit a new record this year, with over 25,000 people set to take part. This race has become such a special part of Sydney’s running calendar, and it’s fantastic to see it continue to grow alongside the city's passionate running community. We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to the start line for what promises to be an unforgettable day,” said Ali.

The Runaway Sydney Half Marathon will start along Macquarie Street at the entrance to the Cahill Expressway on Sunday morning, with the 10km underway at 6:20am, followed by the Half Marathon at 6:40am. Both races take in some of the best highlights of the Sydney CBD, including the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Barangaroo Reserve, The Rocks, and Pyrmont Peninsula.

In a new and exciting update for the 2025 event, the finish line will now be located at The Domain Sydney. The bigger and better finish line area will see participants celebrate their achievements in style, with the Celsius Event Village featuring partner activations, photo opportunities, and a variety of food trucks.

Amongst the party, giving back to charity is an integral part of the Runaway Sydney Half Marathon. There are four official Superstar Charities for the 2025 event, with plenty more being supported by runners through their participation. More than 6,500 donators have raised almost $500,000 so far.
